Curbside Collections Suspension and Reschedule
Prepare for weather-related changes with the Office of Solid Waste Services as severe conditions lead to the suspension of all curbside collections this Friday, January 10, 2025. To ensure community safety and service efficiency, garbage and recycling pick-ups will now occur on Monday, January 13. Additionally, bulk collections initially slated for tomorrow have been rescheduled to Friday, January 17. Affected residents have been directly notified about these adjustments. Next week, service crews will operate on an extended six-day schedule, causing a one-day delay for all curbside services. Stay informed and plan accordingly to manage your waste disposal needs during this period.

DeKalb County Takes a Major Step Towards Affordable Housing with New...
Breaking News - DeKalb County Board of Commissioners Approves Feasibility Study for Countywide Community Land Trust
The DeKalb County Board of Commissioners has approved $122,000 to fund a feasibility study to create a DeKalb County Community Land Trust, a critical step toward expanding affordable housing and promoting equitable development across the county.
Community land trusts (CLTs) are nonprofit organizations that acquire and steward land for long-term community benefit. By separating ownership of the land from the ownership of homes built on it, CLTs help stabilize neighborhoods, ensure permanent affordability, and prevent displacement. Homeowners lease the land under their homes at a minimal cost, making homeownership more accessible while keeping housing prices stable for generations.
“Establishing a DeKalb County Community Land Trust represents a bold and forward-thinking investment in the stability and sustainability of our communities,” said Commissioner Michelle Long Spears, Presiding Officer of the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners and sponsor of the legislation. “As a proven tool to address the housing crisis, a Community Land Trust will preserve long-term affordability, prevent displacement, and ensure that residents have access to safe, secure housing for generations to come. This initiative reflects our collective commitment to equitable growth and inclusive prosperity. I extend my sincere gratitude to the experts, community partners, and stakeholders whose dedication and collaboration have brought this vision to fruition, strengthening DeKalb County’s ongoing pledge to equity, sustainability, and opportunity for all.”
Discover the Grand Opening of Singleton Park: A New Community Hub...
It was a beautiful day in District 2 celebrating the grand opening of Singleton Park and Greenway in unincorporated Norcross!
What was once the Singleton Road Activity Building has been reimagined into a vibrant space where our community can gather, play, and connect.
Thanks to support from our state, federal, and local partners — including SPLOST and vital grant funding — we turned vision into reality. We also were proud to parter with Art in Motion for the installation of the mural which serves as the backdrop for the new playground.
Singleton Park and Greenway is more than a park; it’s a promise fulfilled and a reflection of our commitment to inclusive growth and ensuring every resident has access to safe, beautiful spaces to enjoy.
